New Artists on ATC

You'd be forgiven for thinking ATC had signed some kind of exclusive contract with Nicole Willis but we're pleased to announce the arrival of a couple of new artists to the fold. Naim (above) is a Scandinavian wunderkind the likes of which we've never heard before. You may have heard him on TM Juke's last album or seen him live at the Big Chill but if not you'll soon have Out to Sea (or one of his other forthcoming gems) sound-tracking your every thought. Infectious is not the word. Watch out for a Ltd ATC014...

Also not far round the corner is a killer 12" from our friend DJ Hoop and his brother Joe (their recording name is as yet undecided!). You may have heard Hoop's Tuff Love remixes on Soulclap (which have slowly burned their way through nearly 10,000 12"s with their golden-era soul-survivor mentality). Much as we love that sound, this new material takes a more experimental angle on hip-hop inspired club music and is cut of different stuff completely. Sitting somewhere between Dubstep, Broken Beat and that 'Danny Breaks' sound, we're hoping this will be bothering bass-bins before the year is out!

Nicole Willis on Above the Clouds

After a long gestation period, everything has suddenly happened at once with the Nicole Willis remix project. If This Ain't Love is now available on a 12" with Mr Scruff and Elizabeth Shepherd Remixes and you can see the video below or Listen/Buy here. The full remix album is also now available. (Listen/Buy here).

Nicole and the Boys doing the Tighten Up in Paris!!

This is a great little audience video from a gig in Paris. If you doubted how tight these guys would be live - check them doing the Tighten Up!

Welcome to Above the Clouds Recordings

- a label variously described as “small but perfectly formed”, “sporadic but always on point” and “that label with clouds on their records”.

Well we have to agree, we're sporadic and small but perfectly formed and always on point. We also tend to have clouds on our records - but that seems to make sense.

Anyways - we assume you are here because you like what we do so thanks for that! We hope you enjoy the site (Designed by our boy Mark Applegate) and all our forthcoming releases…

Cloudspace

We finally caught up with the kids and got a myspace myspace.com/abovethecloudsrecordings and after generally stalking around for friends we started to blog like only music geeks can. If you are a geek too, feel free to subscribe or just drop by here every now and again where we'll also be posting our general thoughts and doings...

If This Ain’t a Remix Package

We are excited to announce that following the digital re-release of Feeling Free, we will be releasing a limited 12" and Download Single featuring remixes of the fabulous If This Ain't Love by Nicole Willis and The Soul Investigators.

A couple of incredible re-works come courtesy of Mr Scruff whos extended re-jig gives the track some new instrumentation with real club potential, and The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio who have turned a soul classic into what could become a jazz-dance standard!

Released 26th September this is a taster from the full Nicole Willis Remix Album coming out in October. (Watch This Space for a full tracklisting and preview samples of what's to come). It will also be accompanied by a lovely video which we will get up on here as soon as possible!!!

Nicole Willis Vs The Dynamics @ Fat City

We're pleased to announce that our new 7" - featuring Nicole Willis tracks remixed by The Dynamics - has been made Fat City Record of the week!

It'll be available from tomorrow at Fat City www.fatcity.co.uk and everywhere else as of next week.

If you haven't heard the tracks they are up on the myspace and are soon to be replaced by amazing remixes of If This Ain't Love by Mr Scruff and The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio (out later in the summer).

Apparently Elmore Judd's first Honset Jon's single drops in early June if anyone's interested as does the new album from the Nextmen which is topto bottom Fiyah!!!

By the way - Brad Nextmen is DJing at some shady bar in Camden this Friday (Tomorrow!) and is being joined by the amazing Monk One (Wax Poetics NYC). Definitely one to check for - I think it's at Bar Solo?

Whilst i'm mentioning people playing records, ATC's Matt will be spinning at The Old Queen's Head next Friday for Kung Fu's Special Times.

Bank Holiday Weekend here we come....
